KC people living in Scotland

I suspect waiting times vary between hospitals, especially after Covid and the backlogs that built up then. In theory, it should be no more than 3 months for someone newly diagnosed. Gartnavel sees a lot of people with KC and has a good contact lens department so if you're managing OK with glasses f...

Re: Scleral Lenses: Flying + Swimming

Hi Jigs I don't wear sclerals but I've certainly done short flights (up to 3 hours) in rgps. And I would have thought eyes in rgps would be more prone to drying out than in sclerals. Re: Keratoconus and blood pressure medication

Hello Janet and welcome! There are different types of medication to control blood pressure, and it seems not all of them contribute to dry eye syndrome. Re: Ectatic cornea

Hi Carmel, When we had our original grafts, all those decades ago, surgeons didn't really go into the risks or side effects of any procedure. And although it's great that we're given more information these days, it can be a bit unnerving. My regraft surgeon told me just before I went down to theatre...

Re: East grinsted contact lens appointment

Hello Lisey, We've recently had contact with the ECLO at QVH (I don't know whether you've seen that there will be a support meeting for people with KC at QVH in November https://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/index.php/2023/08/12/east-grinstead-meeting/ so do go along if you can). I contacted her toda...

Re: Can I wear contact lenses?

Excellent news!
And, just to blow our own trumpet for once, shows the value of asking questions on this forum.
Wishing you great success with your new lenses.

Re: Graft rejection after 44 years

Just to add that our West Mids organiser, John Thatcher, is hosting a Zoom meeting for members on Weds 6th September in the early evening. If you'd like to join that, do e-mail me anne@keratoconus-group.org.uk and I'll pass your e-mail address on to him so he can send you an invite.

Re: Graft rejection after 44 years

I think what does work twice as hard in these situations is the brain, which is having to interpret two very different images from each eye. That's why we end up feeling so tired all the time, especially as the day goes on and the brain gets worse at 'blanking out' the bad eye. Do let us know what h...
