Re: Questions about Sclerals
Thanks Sarah and Anne. For my NHS appointments I don't go to Moorfields and I'm reluctant to try given the waiting times for appointments! Might have to just buy them privately, even though they are very expensive. Sarah, I think you're right that everyone reacts to lenses differently, so I m...

Re: Questions about Sclerals
Is there anyone who wears Sclerals who might be able to offer some advice here? Would be very grateful if so.

Re: Questions about Sclerals
Leaving lenses out before topography just might be the choice of your eye care practitioner, I haven't heard of it before. In the past 10 years of recent lens wear I have always been asked to attend appointments with lenses in and the topography has been done within minutes of taking my lenses out....

Questions about Sclerals
Hey all, After trying most lenses known to man, I'm thinking of giving the large 23mm scleral lenses (of the Ken Pullum variety) a try. I know that there are a few people on here who wear these and I'm hoping they could offer some advice on a few questions I have..... 1) Other than comfort, are ther...

Re: Equality Act 2010 - is KC a disability?
To give the other side of the story, I have mild KC yet I don't get perfect vision with contacts and it certainly has affected my ability to do my job. Keratoconus affects different people differently. Some people may have severe KC yet find a solution which works for them, some who have KC at a les...

Soft Lenses Practitioners in London
Hey, Could anyone recommend a good private optician / ophthalmologist who fits soft lenses for keratoconus (eg. kerasoft, Acuity Soft K, etc) in London (preferably central London)? If so, could they send me a PM as we're not supposed to promote individual practitioners on this forum. I know there's ...

Re: Contact Lenses for Moderate KC
Hi Anne, Yep, I have briefly tried reading glasses and it certainly makes the letters larger and a bit easier to read, but the problem I have is that the letters still aren't clear and crisp, so it kind of feels like I'm constantly reading with double vision. This leads on to the headaches and wanti...

Contact Lenses for Moderate KC
Hello all, Wonder if anyone can help me? I've got relatively moderate KC in both eyes and had cross-linking done about a year ago in both. However, despite my KC being moderate, I'm really struggling to find any lenses that are giving me good clear vision. I've tried a lot now...RGP, smaller scleral...

Re: Cross Linking
Hi James, Did your eyesight improve at all? I know it's rare, but in some cases it is said to improve slightly - although the main aim is to delay/halt the progression. I've got to admit, I'm really nervous about after the operation, I imagine it's the type of pain you can't do anything about (apar...

Re: Cross Linking
Hi Ryan, I had cross-linking done on both eyes and yes, I think in most cases it is still done privately. As Anne says, the procedure itself isn't painful (mainly due to the anaesthetic drops they put in your eye) but it certainly is painful for the first 48-72 hours afterwards. I think regardless o...
