Re: Coronavirus and hosp appts
On Moorfields Twitter Account they have a pinned tweet (dated 13th March) which states: Based on new advice on #coronavirus from @PHE_uk , we're asking anyone (regardless of travel) with a new or persistent cough or a high temperature NOT to attend appointments at Moorfields, & instead to stay a...

Re: Questions about Hard Lenses
Ghosting is annoying, especially when looking at text.
Rigid lenses should reduce ghosting. There are lots of different designs of rigid lenses for keratoconus but you may have to try a few designs before finding the one that works for you.

Re: Questions about Hard Lenses
Hi Keratetko, Yes, you should expect to have less problem with ghosting with rigid lenses compared to soft ones. Also rigid lenses should give better vision than glasses as rigid lenses can effectively address the problems of the irregular astigmatism of keratoconus. Have a look at this explanation ...

Re: Help! Where to get initial advice?
Hi Meekatharra, Welcome to the forum. As your keratoconus was diagnosed back in 2005 and you are coping with no aids it is quite likely that your eyesight hasn’t changed that much. I think therefore that the best place to start would probably to get an eye test at an opticians’ and take it from ther...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently
I am having a strange problem in that they are fine for a couple of minutes and then cloud over making my vision really cloudy. Hi Maggie, I had a similar problem with one of my lenses clouding over after an hour or so's wear. In my case the problem was not deposits but bubbles forming under the le...

Re: To all who have joined this forum recently
Tried glasses and contacts to correct left eye but to no avail. Consultant doesn't believe left eye bad enough for corneal transplant but can't see anything clearly with it without any kind or correction. Hi Matthew, There are lots of different types of contact lenses for keratoconus these days but...

Re: Lenses
Hi DCSales, There are lots of different types of contact lenses for keratoconus. Toric lenses are designed for regular astigmatism, some of these lenses are soft but they can also be RGPs. Mild keratoconus can often be corrected with glasses or ordinary contact lenses. As keratoconus progresses peop...

Re: Contact lens help and advice
Hi Hahny, Yes, people with mild KC are often able to get good vision with ordinary soft contact lenses. RGPs can be comfortable so do give them a try if the optician thinks that they would give you better vision with them than soft ones. I've worn RGPs for nearly 30 years (although these days I pigg...

Re: Got Keratoconus, What field do you work in??
Hi Sk_89k, Like many people my job involves spending far too long looking at a computer screen. I note that your profile states that you correct your vision with spectacles. You may find that you would get better vision with contact lenses. I get a theoretical 6/9 vision in my better eye with glasse...
