As I understand it adjusting the power should be straightforward, whereas adjusting the fit can be more complicated.
I hope that all goes well for your appointment on Tuesday.

Re: New scleral RGPs and they scare me!!
Hi Carmel, Welcome to the forum. As your reading vision is excellent it sounds to me as if the power of the lenses is incorrect. Normally it is distance vision that is optimised and reading glasses used for near vision, if required. I would suggest that you ask for an appointment to check your visio...

Re: Financial Help
Just to add to Anne’s comprehensive reply. If your lenses are replaced every six months because they only have design life of six months then you will be charged every six months for replacements. But if your lenses were designed to be replaced more frequently than every six months then you would be...

Re: Contact Lens wearing time
If I wear my lens for a number of hours and then have a break for say an hour do you think it is reasonable to extend this time. ” This is a difficult one. Eight hours isn't very long and I guess that there would be days when you would like to extend the time. I think in your case I might be tempte...

Hi Stu, Welcome to the forum. It is unusual to discover that one has keratoconus in one's late 30's but it's not unheard of. Hello, Do you think they will do CXL? I’ve been told over 35 they usually don’t but as mines come on so quickly will this aid my case? The decision to offer someone CXL is usu...

Re: Vision worse with RGP Lenses
I still dont understand why I cant wear soft lenses and have to wear RGP? You don't have to wear RGPs but you will probably find that contact lenses give you better vision than glasses do. This is because glasses are unable to correct the irregular astigmatism that keratoconus gives us. For people ...

Re: Contact lenses advice please
Do you get 20/20 vision when you wear your contacts? Yes, I do get good vision and comfort with my contact lenses. Although the fitting of them hasn't always been straightforward. As CrippsCorner has said there are other types of contact lenses for keratoconus, as you say that your lenses fall out ...

Re: Contact lenses advice please
Hello Sammy, Contact lenses shouldn’t fall out. It may be worth going back to your optician and getting the fitting checked. Sometimes it is necessary for the prescription to be tweaked to get an optimum fit for comfort and vision. With practice contact lenses become easier to put in and remove. I t...

Re: Contact Lenses
Hi Racheal and welcome to the forum, Some people do find rigid contact lenses uncomfortable and they can take some getting used to; and sometimes the fitting needs to be adjusted to get a comfortable fit. As you only needed a contact lens in one eye, and you can manage with glasses, it is not surpri...

The latest newsletter describes lots of things that have been going on in the last year - not all of them in London. https://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Newsletter-Winter-2019d-newpub.pdf The newsletter reports on the last conference, which was held in Birmingham, and the...
