Re: Piggybacking

A quick follow up after a month with piggybacks. Comfort is still good and 15 hour days are doable, my eyes are staying well lubricated and the vision is excellent. Had a couple of occasions where I've managed to remove the soft lens first before the RGP - not sure how but could be a good party tric...

Re: Piggybacking

Thanks Andy, useful tips. I think I'm very lucky with my eyes in comparison to many others with KC . I put my lens in at 6.30am today and 12 hours later they still feel fine, I don't seem to suffer from dry or itchy eyes - I was wearing the softs and RGPs for 12 to 16 hours a day without problems wh...

Piggybacking

Like most KC sufferers when I searched for information on KC the option of piggybacking was frequently mentioned. I mistakenly thought I understood how they worked and believed they consisted of some type of hybrid two-layer but-effectively-one-lens solution. Having been unexpectedly** fitted with p...

Indeed, roughly £330 for lenses in mine and I was changing them every 4-6 months at one point - thankfully onto contacts now.

Re: KC and glasses

I don't know of any opticians who offer this as a service however one option could be to put a certain amount into a savings account each month and use that to fund the new glasses. Obviously you'll need to start the saving in advance of the need for the first set but it can help with budgeting.

Re: Keratoconus question

I found Kerasofts excellent - as someone who hated RGPs at first, Kerasofts were very comfortable and the vision (in comparison to glasses) was excellent.

Re: Keratoconus question

Hi - can you see clearly enough with glasses? Is it for appearance purposes that you no longer wish to wear them or is it the case that your vision is not good 'enough' with glasses? When I reached the stage of not being able to see well enough with glasses 3 years ago the NHS were very helpful in f...

Re: First post plus a question or two

Hello Grant and welcome to the forum. And congratulations on going 8 years without needing contact lenses for your KC. Yes, there are special soft lenses for KC these days - examples are Kerasoft and Acuity Soft. They look very interesting. Assuming I can't get them on the NHS for whatever reason d...
