Hopefully a lifetime! We have several members with grafts 30+ year old. And a couple who have had successful regrafts 25 or 30 years down the line. I'm hoping to hang on to mine until I pop my clogs.

Re: Cornea graft - please help
Chances of rejection are much lower with the lamellar (partial) graft. Treatment is the same for both types though - increased doses of steroid drops, which successfully reverses the rejection in the vast majority of cases. The important thing is to seek treatment promptly - so with any sudden chang...

Re: Cornea graft - please help
My grafts were 22 and 20 years ago. This was before the days of partial grafts, so both were full grafts. By the time I was offered grafts, I really didn't have to think about whether it was the right thing for me - my vision with contact lenses was awful, they were painful to wear and I was getting...

Re: Cleaning RGPS with fairy liquid
Well, you did ask for horrified replies, Rosemary, so here's mine. As I've said before on this forum, there is a particularly nasty lurgy that is sometimes found in tap water which can cause blindness. So whatever you do, please DON'T use tap water to rinse off lenses. Is it really worth the risk of...

Re: Rainbows Revisited - OH NO!!!!!!
Hi Rosemary - hope your appt this morning has gone well. Increased eye pressure post graft isn't that uncommon. Certainly happened to me after one of my grafts, and to several other people I've spoken to over the years (none of whom were wearing a lens yet in the grafted eye, so the lens may not be ...

Re: Post DALK & C3R
Hi and welcome to the forum! Both Intacs and crosslinking are pre-graft options (usually for mild to moderate KC) and as far as I know, no-one is offering them post graft. Crosslinking is designed to strengthen the cornea and stop the progression of KC - a graft has already done that! But scleral le...

Re: LENS / OPTICIANS COSTS
Hi Pauline, Anyone with a clinical need for contact lenses (which includes a lot of people with KC) is entitled to lenses at the NHS rate - currently around £51 per lens. That payment includes any changes in prescription in the next 12 months. But you can only get the NHS rate by going through a hos...

Re: Corneal abrasion
Welcome Jonny
Yes, abrasions are common. Mine have usually been caused by a bit of dust getting underneath the lens and have quickly healed up after leaving the lens out for a few days, leaving no after effects. Hope that proves the case for you too.

Great idea Tom! So where are all the other Londoners on this forum? You can't all be sunning yourselves on a Spanish beach!

Re: RGP Lenses and "dirt/sleep" in eye
Hi Amit I developed this problem after 30+yrs(!) of wearing rgps. A regime of various drops from my eye clinic seems to have solved it, so yes, there are drops that can help. So do go back to your optom and discuss this further. And of course, there's the standard advice of taking regular breaks fro...
