Carrying on from the a previous topic, here's a quick poll to enable us to gauge interest.

If you were entitled to a form of variable sight registration what benefits would you like to receive?

Re: New Sight Registration possibility for KC: Input needed

Hmm... a lot to consider here. Speaking personally, I would think that we need some criteria which can be scientifically measured. The current rules that Lynn posted make reference to blurred areas of vision, but not areas of double-vision. Can the amount of ghosting be quantifiably measured? If not...

Re: KC group literature

Thanks for pointing this out, Lou.

Whilst I think that the original point of the sentence in question was to reassure that the total blindness would not occur, I can see how this can be interpreted differently; and I'll raise it at the committee meeting next week.

Re: A new Smith

Thanks very much everyone for all your best wishes (and even cards from some of you!). Everyone has been very kind. Lucy gave us all a bit of a scare by having lost 18% of her birth weight at 5 days old, so she was taken back into hospital to be fed up  . The poor little mite was being poked an...

Re: Advice please "no more scleral lenses"

Hi Ian, Like Andrew, I've had a transplant of both corneas. Although it may sound like a magic bullet, please be aware that it isn't a panacea. The idea of a graft/transplant is to make your vision easier to correct. It's not designed to cure your KC. Most people (proabably 60%+) will need to wear c...

Re: Why do I feel embarrassed

Ouch!

Have you mentioned to your lecturer that you yourself have low vision, and that he should practice what he preaches? It would certainly be interesting for both you and the lecturer if you do - as he can demonstrate to the class more effectively, as well as helping you!

Re: KC Old Timer - Advice Needed

Hi there Dean, just thought I'd add my 2p... I've had a DALK graft in one eye, and a PK in the other. Both required in-patient treatment, and neither used "a standard laser surgery machine". It may also "just" be luck, but my PK eye gives me MUCH better vision than the one subjec...

I'd love to be able to come along; unfortunately I suspect that I will be unavailable (pending "Button" delivery  ).

All the best though, and I hope you get lots of takers.

Re: Which hospitals are KC 'centres of excellence'?

Hi Julia, It's certainly true that as Pepepepe points out that there is probably no real definition for "Centre of Excellence" - it's just a term that is bandied around by patients and also by hospitals themselves in a form of self-promotion. Usually however, those that make this claim don...
