Re: Any Teenagers that have had to face KC surgery
Hi Jackie I was in a similar position to your son a few years back. The idea of getting surgery to your eye at a young age is quite daunting, I can understand why he seems a bit apprehensive! I thought I'd just share with you my experience at least. I too was diagnosed with KC at the age of 12, and ...

Re: People are reluctant to donate eyes
I think you are right Andrew, as far as I know the eye is removed so in a way I find the article a little misleading. More than just the cornea can be used. I think that people who wish to donate organs should know these details if they wish too. Organ donation will always have it's controversies an...

Re: Student Finance and Exams
Hi Stace I had similar problems when I started university. I too was a bit reluctant to bring up my vision problems, but I soon realised it was affecting my studying. Re: wasn't expecting that
Sorry about your news - maybe you will be able to get the transplant during the holidays rather than during semester? My university was great in aiding me when I needed it - there are plenty of options out there to help you with your studies!

Re: Some good news
Andrew, yeh thats right. It depends really. Some people go into medical school knowing exactly what sort of doctor they want to be, others havent decided yet. There are 2 years of foundation training after medical school, where you change departments every few months (as far as I remember) and I thi...

Re: Short term soft contact lenses
Hi Geoff. Im not sure about this one. Some people with KC can still use glasses when their lenses are out, but it depends on how advanced your KC is. Is there no way of getting them to order a repeat of the lenses you had last time? If not, I suppose you could try going to an opticians to see if you...
